About 1 out of 3 people suffer from dry feet, and that number doubles as we grow older. Sadly, many people neglect their feet!

About Sleepy Time Foot Balm

This round tin is filled to the brim with a moisturizing foot balm, which replaces water-based foot lotions. Sleepy Time is beeswax based which means you need less and it seals in your skin’s moisture better than a water based lotion.

Sleepy Time is scented lightly with lavender to relax you, peppermint to soothe and cool down hot and tired feet, and tea tree oil…a natural antibacterial that can help fight food odors as well as prevent infections.

Ingredients:

Avocado oil; olive oil; organic beeswax; shea butter; jojoba oil; coconut oil; essential oils of peppermint, lavender and tea tree.

How to Use Sleepytime Overnight Foot Balm

We like to use the back of our fingernail to scrape a small piece of balm out and then rub over your feet, paying extra attention to the heels and soles.

That’s it. The beeswax base will seal your moisture in. No need to wear socks, but if you prefer, go right ahead!

Causes of Dry Feet

The bottom of your feet has a thick layer of skin that is designed to protect you. Dry and cracked feet happen when that layer becomes too thick and too dry.

Your feet literally hold you up so you should bee kind to them. Many of us are on our feet for at least 6 hours a day. Think about the steps you take, the shoes (or boots or heels or athletic shoes) you wear. The pressure on your feet is immense!

  • Ill-fitting shoes contribute to dry feet, as well as painful foot conditions like corns, bunions and calluses. Constant heat, friction, and pressure is not good for your feet.
  • Temperature changes, particularly in the winter, is another one of the causes of dry skin on feet. Dry skin makes it particularly hard to regulate the temperature.
  • Some medical conditions play a role in chronic dry feet as well, such as obesity, diabetes, eczema, or hypothyroidism. Always speak to your doctor about your foot concerns.

How to Treat Dry Feet

Cracked and dry feet can’t be cured by simply applying foot balm. It’s best used after a good foot scrub to exfoliate making sure your feet are dried well before applying. Consider our Ultimate Foot Care Set for the best home foot care practice.

Soaking Your Feet

You may also want to treat yourself to a Pink Grapefruit Foot Soak, an Epsom salt based foot bath. A 30-minute hot foot soak helps soften dead skin, priming it for exfoliation.

Epsom salts also help to relieve muscle aches; a foot bath is a wonderful way to end the day, especially if your dry feet are especially weary.

Exfoliating Your Feet

Removing the dead, dry skin BEFORE you moisturize makes the most sense. You want to keep the healthy skin moist and supple.

Our favorite products to exfoliate dry feet are our Honey Soap with Loofah, or our Peppermint Pumice. Both soaps scrub your feet and clean them.  Clean feet are healthy feet!
